International Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) (Field Trial)

Year 5

Involves approx. 1,550 Year 5 students in 39 schools. This is the same student group as for the TIMSS trial.

National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

Years 3, 5, 7 & 9

Full cohort of students.

Involves a sample of approx. 6,500 Year 6 students from 345 primary schools and a further 6,500 Year 10 students from 325 secondary schools, all sectors nationally.

Involves approx. 6,500 Year 4 students in 290 primary schools and 8,000 Year 8 students in 290 secondary schools, across all states, all sectors.
